O. Henry "Makes the whole world kin" (essay)
O. Henry is a master of humor in American literature. I like “Makes the whole world kin” very much! In that story he describes rather spreading situation from the criminal world, but he presents it in an unusual clue. The author uses mocking and ironic tone, his heroes are full of love and kindness despite on their nefarious occupation. The funniest moment for me – when the burglar offers the citizen to drink some Booze together, what is funnier - free for the second one. I think the author wanted to tell that human feelings hide in any person and in his stories we find out about them in the most unexpected moment. The title, in my opinion, is quite appropriate to the sense of the story, as the main idea of it as I think that is all people are equal, they all have the same problems, opinions, in a word - familial souls. It shouldn’t forget about it and cause distress other people, because they are the same as you.
